How to register a G5 Headset
NOTE: G5 Headset(s) must be powered off no battery installed before starting the registration process. Remove the battery from the assembled headset.
- Type in 1, 2, 3, 4 and then tap MODE on the keypad. A new message at the bottom of the screen should display <User Mode, ID = 1> if done correctly.
- Tap the MODE key once until :MAIN MENU: is displayed; then tap ENTER on SYSTEM MENU.
- Hit the 4 key and ENTER to enter registration mode.
- Within the registration menu, select option 1 <ADD NEW HEADSET> and hit ENTER.
- The screen should prompt you to power on the headset. One at a time, insert the battery back into the headset while watching the LED on the headset.
- The LED will flash green for up to 2 minutes, then it will turn solid green when registration is completed. Repeat powering on units until all have been registered.
If the headset fails to register, the base may not have enough empty slots to register new equipment. Try the following:
- Type in 1, 2, 3, 4 and then tap MODE on the keypad. A new message at the bottom of the screen should display <User Mode, ID = 1> if done correctly.
- Tap the MODE key once until :MAIN MENU: is displayed; then tap ENTER on SYSTEM MENU.
- Hit the 4 key and ENTER to enter registration mode.
- From the registration menu, select option 3 <REMOVE HEADSETS>
- In the event that the registration list is completely full, delete any headsets not being used by staff by verifying their 3M serial numbers against what has been recorded on the base.
- Attempt registration again with spaces marked with just XXXXXX (empty) on the base.
How to adjust volume levels on the G5 base station
- Type in 1, 2, 3, 4 and then tap MODE on the keypad. A new message at the bottom of the screen should display User Mode, ID = 1 if done correctly.
- Tap the MODE key once until :MAIN MENU: is displayed; then tap ENTER on SYSTEM MENU.
- Press the number 1 for DRIVE THRU VOLUMES and press the ENTER button.
- Use the down arrow button to move over to INBOUND MIC VOLUME or OUTBOUND TALK VOLUME and press ENTER.
- **Enter the desired volume (1-20). Press ENTER once more to save the volume level.
- Press the MODE button until the base returns to its default screen.
How do I set OR change the date and time on my G5 Base Station?
- Type in 1, 2, 3, 4 and then tap MODE on the keypad. A new message at the bottom of the screen should display User Mode, ID = 1 if done correctly.
- Tap the MODE key once until :MAIN MENU: is displayed; then tap ENTER on SYSTEM MENU.
- Press the number 6 for <SET DATE & TIME> and press the ENTER button.
- Use the arrows to navigate and select the date & time. You can adjust the times/dates using the number pad.
- Press ENTER after each change of date / time.
- When finished, press the MODE button until the base station returns to its default screen.
I don’t have audio (inbound or outbound) from my system
WARNING: Resetting the G5 base station may take up to 5 minutes to reboot (reset). Please keep this in mind as your drive-thru may be full during peak times. It is recommended to reset the base during slow periods.
The Base Station needs to be power reset; use the following steps:
- Remove the screws on the front panel of the base station
- With the screws removed, gently remove the front panel from the base station.
- Remove / pull out the power supply that is inserted to the bottom left of the keypad (on the main circuit board under the keypad).
- Wait for 30 seconds, then re-insert the power supply.
- Please ensure that there are no cars at the menu board when re-inserting the power supply. DO NOT power on the system with a car at the menu board.
- Headsets will automatically re-register to the base (you should have solid green lights on headsets). Once registered, proceed to take an order and test audio
- If there is still no audio, call Mood Drive-Thru Technical Support @ 800-316-8000
No detection (no “beep” in headset when a car gets to the menu board)

- Make sure the base station does not say “MODE<OUTSIDE>” or “MODE<ALWAYS ON>” on the main screen, which will show the MODE on the upper-left corner.
If “MODE<OUTSIDE>” or “MODE<ALWAYS ON>” is showing, take the following steps:

- Use the arrow buttons and highlight MODE (the brackets will be highlighted). Press ENTER and use the up or down arrow keys change the mode to any other mode other than OUTSIDE or ALWAYS ON.
- Press ENTER when finished. Now check for detection tone when a car gets to the menu board.
If solution above does not apply and there is no detection (no tone or “beep” in headsets), take the flowing steps:
- Remove the screws on the front panel of the base station
- With the screws removed, gently remove the front panel from the base station.
- Remove / pull out the power supply that is inserted to the bottom left of the keypad (on the main circuit board under the keypad).
- Wait for 30 seconds, then re-insert the power supply.
- Please ensure that there are no cars at the menu board when re-inserting the power supply. DO NOT power on the system with a car at the menu board (cars can be anywhere else in the drive thru except the menu board).
- Once all headsets have been re-registered (you should have solid green lights on headsets), proceed to take an order and check for detection tone in headsets.
- If there is still no detection (beep), call Mood Drive-Thru Technical Support @ 800-316-8000
LCD Screen has Hieroglyphics (strange characters), OR keypad is not responding OR the base is frozen

- Check and see if the LCD screen shows normal characters and /or normal operation resumes.
How to enable or disable the “Store is Closed” message?
- Type in 1, 2, 3, 4 and then tap MODE on the keypad. A new message at the bottom of the screen should display User Mode, ID = 1 if done correctly
- Tap the MODE key once until :MAIN MENU: is displayed; then tap ENTER on SYSTEM MENU.
- Press the number 7 for <GLOBAL SETTINGS> and press the ENTER button.
- Use the down arrow button to move over to “STORE IS NOW CLOSED” PROMPT and press ENTER.
- Use UP or DOWN ARROW buttons to toggle between yes or no. Once you choose your option, press ENTER.
- Press the MODE button until the base returns to its default screen.

How to adjust the store hours on the base station
- Type in 1, 2, 3, 4 and then tap MODE on the keypad. A new message at the bottom of the screen should display User Mode, ID = 1 if done correctly.
- Tap the MODE key once until :MAIN MENU: is displayed; then tap ENTER on SYSTEM MENU.
- Press the number 10 for SYSTEM MENU and press the ENTER button.
- Select REGULAR SITE SCHEDULE and press the ENTER button.
- Adjust the value for each day of the week for Open and Close (use the up/down arrow buttons to scroll up and down the list). Do not change the Day or Night times – only the Open and Close times.
- Press the MODE button until the base station returns to its default screen.
How to reset my G5 base station to factory settings
WARNING: Resetting the base station to factory settings will un-register all headsets and restore the base to the default out-of-the box settings, which will disable any dual-lane functionality that had been previously enabled. ALL settings (date, time, network settings, store hours, volume levels, dual-lane & headset functionality and order taking modes) will need to be reprogrammed.
- Type in 1, 2, 3, 4 and then tap MODE on the keypad. A new message at the bottom of the screen should display <User Mode, ID = 1 >if done correctly.
- Tap the MODE key once until :MAIN MENU: is displayed; then tap ENTER on SYSTEM MENU.
- Enter “15” on the keypad or scroll down to the option 15 <FACTORY SETUP>.
- Change NO to YES (arrow buttons) and press ENTER on the next screen to restore the base to its default settings.
- The base station will need to have all headsets re-registered, store hours and order taking modes set, and dual-lane functionality re-enabled (if applicable).
